Cara Clarkson, M.S.
Associate Counselor (she/her/hers) cara.clarkson@newmoonrisingwellness.com 615-219-9185 Full Session Fee: $125, Sliding Scale Available I view the therapy hour as time to foster your own capacity for growth by creating a safe environment for which self-discovery and reflection is possible. I appreciate working with individuals who have been previously hesitant to or suspicious of therapy, those struggling in regards to spirituality (deconstruction, religious trauma), and clients seeking therapy in regards to relational concerns or life transitions. After working in residential treatment for substance use disorders, I see therapy as a journey in recovery, whether from addiction, anxiety, or old patterns you are looking to leave behind. It is my goal to hold a space for you to identify what is happening within you as you tell your story and build self compassion as we work to better understand what makes you, you. As a clinician, I would describe myself as curiously hopeful. Together we will learn to be curious about your apprehensions, body language, sparks of interests, emotional expression, use of humor, and inclusion of details in storytelling. I believe that our need as individual's to allow ourselves to be seen and known in order to grow is a gift when approached gently and thoughtfully. I believe that hope, offered carefully and creatively, can be shared. In our time together, we will get to know you and your unique perspective on the world by communicating in a variety of ways through experiential techniques. While person-centered theory is the basis of my approach, I also utilize interventions from Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT). With this in mind, we will use the relationship we create as a vehicle to consider and process your own interpersonal stressors and barriers to increased self-worth while exploring your personal values and integrating mindfulness practices. |
