I am a Play Therapist focused on creating safe spaces for children and their family members who have been affected by trauma. I serve families that have been exposed to situations that are emotionally distressing with lasting effects on functioning such as abuse, natural disasters, substance/alcohol, discrimination, violence, change in family dynamics and complications before/during/after birth. I believe empowering children and building a strong foundation of felt safety and connection is essential to the therapeutic process.
I have experience working with children and families who have challenges with Anxiety, Depression, OCD, difficulty with social skills, aggression, specific fears, suicidal ideation, Disruptive Mood Disorder, ADHD, adoption, parenting, separation anxiety, and effects of Natural Disasters.
I received a Masters of Arts degree in Behavioral Psychology (University of Houston), a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Lipscomb University) and a Doctorate degree from the University of Houston in Educational Psychology-Individual Differences. I have served as an adjunct professor at both the University of Houston and Cumberland University. I am trained in TraumaPlay®, Trust-Based Relational Intervention ® (TBRI), Creative Grief Coaching and EMDR.
