Addy Mitchell (she/her)

I am a Master’s Level Intern therapist with a strong passion for working with adolescents and young adults. I believe adolescence is one of the hardest phases of life to navigate. Adolescence is full of rapid change, intense emotions, and constant pressure. Managing peer relationships, bullying, identity development, family conflict, and expectations around school is challenging enough on its own. But doing all of this in the digital age, where comparison and scrutiny feel nonstop, can be overwhelming. I understand this deeply – not only because I work so closely with this age group, but because I’ve lived these challenges personally.

My approach to therapy blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with person-centered principles, creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly heard and understood. I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults navigating phase-of-life transitions, including changes in family dynamics such as divorce, difficulties with peers and friendships, academic stress, and the process of figuring out who they are and who they want to be. I strive to meet clients where they are, honoring both the challenges they face and the strengths they already carry.

I deeply believe that one of the hardest parts of struggling is not knowing why we feel the way we do. Our bodies often hold important information about our experiences, and learning to listen to those signals with curiosity and compassion can be a powerful part of healing. Therapy can help clients make sense of their emotional and physical responses while building insight and practical coping skills that support resilience and confidence in everyday life. In my work with trauma, I take a time-oriented and compassionate approach, recognizing that healing cannot be rushed and looks different for every person. I am committed to creating a safe, steady environment where clients can feel supported as they work toward greater emotional safety, self-understanding, and stability.

Ultimately, I view therapy as a collaborative journey. I believe growth happens when clients feel respected, validated, and empowered. I’m here to walk alongside my clients as they navigate the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood, helping them build trust in themselves and move toward a more balanced, fulfilling life.
