Annie Weaver (she/her)

Your self is sacred–and so are all the pieces that make you who you are. It takes guts to walk through the door with your story when something isn’t working anymore. Therapy is courageous work. I never take your trust for granted as we untangle what’s confusing/heavy/sensitive together.

My approach to therapy is highly relational. I lead with warmth, humor, and understanding. I want you to feel truly seen and cared for in our work together. You are the expert on you. I boil my approach down to the mantra of “be with”– I am constantly grounding myself to be with you to help you be with the fullness of yourself. My goal is to facilitate a soft place for you to land and to stay curious with you about your goals while building your coping toolbox and wrestling with different ways of showing up in your own life. I often share that counseling work happens at the intersection of heart, head, and body; we will practice skills together AND we are going to sit with the ingrained stories that we live out, knowingly and unknowingly. If there is a new story you want to live out, let’s practice it together.

I have worked extensively with young adults, primarily college students and teens 16 and up. You are learning what fits for you, what you want to take with you from your past, and how you want to show up in your life going forward. I don’t see therapy as a one-size-fits-all experience. I enjoy the creativity of tailoring and integrating what resonates with you while keeping my approachable style. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (parts work), mindfulness, expressive arts, sandtray, and solution-focused work. I have worked with attachment issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, shame, grief, OCD, PTSD, religious issues, identity formation, relational issues, sport performance, and life transitions.

Before graduate school, I worked in family law and at the intersection of sports media and mental health. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy cheering on Nashville sports teams, a good hike, traveling when I can, and attempting to improve my mediocre cooking skills.

I would be honored to meet you!
