Cara Allison, M.S., LPC-MHSP (she/her)
I believe that we are capable of healing and growth when we are given space to be seen, heard, and fully accepted. I hope that through our work together, you will find the freedom to live your life bravely and embrace who you are.
Two questions that guide my approach to therapy are: “How do your past experiences, trauma, and heartache impact your life today?" As well as, "Who and what are the people, animals, strengths, resources, and beliefs that have helped you survive to this point?" The answers to these questions are an invitation to heal past wounds and find more peace in the present.
My areas of focus include complex trauma, attachment trauma, religious trauma, faith deconstruction, body image, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I work with clients 18+ and approach therapy from a neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming lens. I also work from an Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size lens.
I believe that connecting with our bodies is a vital part of wellness and healing. I am certified in EMDR and have begun training in Somatic Experiencing. I borrow from other approaches including Internal Family Systems (Parts-Work) and Person-Centered Therapy.
I value the uniqueness of each individual and am grateful for the opportunity to work with people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and sexual and gender identities.
When I’m not in the office I love spending time with friends and with my sweet dog and cat, Frankie and Fable.
