Hi! I’m DeAnn. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. 

Let’s be honest. Life can be messy, chaotic, and overwhelming at times. You may find yourself stuck on the proverbial hamster wheel, caught up in our culture of productivity, deeply affected by the state of the world, and exhausted by the complexities unique to these times. 

I believe in the power of slowing down and being listened to by someone who can help you discover calm and creativity within. Our work together would involve honoring your past, navigating the road ahead, and grounding in the present. It is important to me to provide a safe space for you to express all parts of yourself and feel seen and heard.      

My integrative approach to counseling is trauma-informed (how trauma and chronic stress impact the body & relationships) and systemic-minded, considering how our culture, relationships, and systems of oppression impact us. I may incorporate mindfulness techniques, movement, and creative arts practices into sessions to increase insight, encourage the expression of withheld emotions, and regulate the nervous system. I especially enjoy working with highly sensitive people, artists & creative professionals, and adolescents navigating identity confusion and low self-esteem.

My passion for counseling grew from decades of work as a performer and business executive in the entertainment industry. I have an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have received training in Trauma-Focused CBT and Internal Family Systems. 

My hobbies include creative writing, attending NSC games, attempting Sunday NY Times crossword puzzles, playing fiddle tunes on my violin, and being silly with my family and friends.
