Upon Completion, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) through Increase awareness of the therapeutic relationship, including relational patterns, boundaries, rupture, repair, and regulation within the counseling process.a developmental trauma and attachment-informed framework rather than a symptom-only perspective.

  2. Explore the potential impact of chronic relational disruption, attachment injuries, and nervous system dysregulation on common BPD presentations.

  3. Increase understanding of the relationship between attachment, regulation, interpersonal functioning, and patterns commonly associated with BPD.

  4. Develop familiarity with the Satisfaction Cycle and consider how disruptions in developmental and relational processes may present clinically.

  5. Explore the application of Somatic Experiencing® principles when working with emotional dysregulation, splitting, fear of abandonment, and relational challenges.

  6. Identify opportunities to incorporate body awareness, grounding, pacing, and stabilization into clinical work with clients presenting with BPD traits.

  7. Practice integrating attachment-informed and somatically oriented perspectives into case conceptualization and therapeutic interventions.

  8. Increase awareness of the therapeutic relationship, including relational patterns, boundaries, rupture, repair, and regulation within the counseling process.

  9. Apply SE-informed assessment and stabilization concepts when working with clients diagnosed with or presenting characteristics consistent with BPD.

  10. Participate in experiential learning activities designed to support clinical awareness, skill development, and integration of course concepts into practice.
